In the the year of 2017, the movement called the Me Too movement took Hollywood by storm and changed the way that the world sees Hollywood forever. Ladies in the film industry started coming forward and telling their stories about how they were sexual assaulted by men in a higher power then them. This did just not happen in the film industry, but it in all industries all over. Through this movement the phrase #MeToo was born. It was about getting men to stop sexual assaulting woman.

But, what about young women and young girls?

Here at Girls Inc. we decided that learning and giving respects starts at a young age, for girls and boys.

So we are planning a walk and we want all to attend!

For people who believe in change and believe that we can start this pattern of sexual assault.

So come in join us for this world changing event!

Established in 2007, Girls Incorporated of Westchester County inspires all girls to be strong, smart, and bold. We are the local affiliate of Girls Incorporated, a 150 year old national nonprofit providing more than 140,000 girls across the U.S. and Canada with life-changing experiences and solutions to the unique challenges girls face. The Girls Inc. Experience consists of people, an environment, and programming that, together, empower girls to succeed. At Girls Inc., girls grow up healthy, educated, and independent.

PURPOSE AND COMMUNITY NEED

According the Westchester Children’s Association’s 2016 Children By The Numbers report, “there is overwhelming evidence that age, race, location, and gender play major roles in determining a child’s well-being and life prospects, especially when it comes to poverty, future income, and education.” Disparities follow girls throughout their educational journey and beyond including higher education, economic security, and even professional success. Therefore, it is vital to understand the needs of under-served girls to design effective approaches to address their needs.
